PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a composite material which allows a metal plating layer to be easily deposited on the surface thereof, and is excellent in the adhesion to the metal plating layer, and to provide a method of manufacturing a composite material and a formed body including the same. SOLUTION: The method of manufacturing the composite material includes: a step (1) of obtaining a formed body consisting of a resin composition containing a silicon-based polymer (A) having a specified cyclic unit and a polymer (B) having a carbon-carbon unsaturated bond; a step (2) of forming a bridge structure; and a step (3) of forming metal particles on the surface of the formed body and/or inside the formed body.
