PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To improve operability for recording audio data of an imaging device, and to surely record a voice that a subject makes during photography. SOLUTION: The imaging device has an image processing unit (20) for detecting a face from image data outputted from an imaging means and records image data outputted from the imaging means in a recording medium when image recording is instructed. The imaging device comprises a voice pickup means (68, 50) for picking up a sound and storing voice data in a memory (52), a system control unit (50) which starts storing the voice data by the voice pickup means in response to the detection of the face by the image processing unit, and a control unit (22, 50) which records the voice data stored in the memory to the recording medium while relating them to the image data when the image processing unit detects the face while the image recording is instructed.
