PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a garbage sorting and treating system capable of effectively composting garbage while eliminating labor and time of separating the garbage from its container or collection bag, thereby effectively utilizing the garbage as recycled resources. SOLUTION: The garbage sorting and treating system includes a garbage sorting device 1 separating garbage D charged therein in a contained state in a plastic container or a collection bag from the plastic container or collection bag, and a fermentation tank 8 fermenting the garbage D separated by the garbage sorting device 1. The garbage sorting device 1 includes rotary blades 2d crushing the charged garbage D together with the plastic container and blowing away the crushed plastic pieces by the whirlwind, a screw conveyer 3 removing moisture of the garbage D and conveying it, and conveyers 4, 5 charging the garbage D into the fermentation tank 8. An agitation device 6 having an agitation screw 7 raising the garbage D accumulated on the bottom of the fermentation tank 8 and dispersingly dropping is provided in the fermentation tank 8.
