PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a sewing machine equipped with imaging means which permits an accurate position information to be acquired from an image captured by the imaging means. SOLUTION: When the sewing machine is instructed to compute a parameter of an image sensor, an image is captured by the image sensor and stored in the captured image storage area of RAM (S1). Straight lines are extracted from the captured image, and the coordinates of the intersections of the extracted straight lines are computed. The coordinates of an intersection corresponding to a feature point from among the intersections is stored in a feature point two-dimensional coordinates storage area relatedly to a feature point number (S2). By relating the computed two-dimensional coordinates to the feature point number, it can be related to a three-dimensional coordinate stored relatedly to a feature point number in the feature point three-dimensional coordinates storage area. Subsequently, parameters are computed by a well-known method and stored in an internal parameter storage area and an external parameter storage area (S3). COPYRIGHT: (C)2009,JPO&INPIT
