<p>The invention relates to a brush seal comprising a sealing element (12) provided with a plurality of wires or filaments that are joined to a filament or wire end (16) for forming a filament or wire bundle (14), said filament or wire end (16) being arranged in a mounting recess (22) of a housing (20a, 20b), also comprising a free end (30) of the filament or wire bundle (14) that protrudes from a housing (20a, 20b) and that is opposite said filament or wire end (16). According to the invention, at least one projection (24, 26) is formed on an inner contour (18) of the mounting recess (22) in such a manner that the filament or wire bundle (14) is blocked by the projection (24, 26) at a predefined distance in relation to the filament or wire end (16).
