[Class 38 (v)] The duplicate bus-bars 1 of a H.T. switchgear are covered with insulation 2 and have contacts 5 connected to terminals 7 of the oil or air-blast switch 6 by slidable U-shaped insulated connectors 3. Access within the compartmentafter withdrawal of the switch carriage 12 is made safer by earthed metal screens 14 and by a contact 11 earthing the cable end 10 by engaging a contact 23. Additional insulation 15 is provided on the busbars 1 at the contacts 5 and encloses a metal screen 16 to eliminate ionization and discharge.
