METHOD AND APPARATUS FOR TRANSMITTING/RECEIVING REFERENCE SIGNAL IN COMMUNICATION SYSTEM

A method and an apparatus for transmitting and receiving a reference signal in a communication system are provided to estimate a channel accurately using the pilot tones transmitted to the different transmission power value even though the non-uniformity of the power is generated. Map messages, data tones, and pilot tones are generated in a sub frame unit(601). A first transmission power value and a second transmission power value of the first and second pilot tones positioned on one resource among the same frequency resource and the same time resource among the pilot tones included in the data area inside the sub frame comprised of the time and frequency resources are differently determined(603). Weights are determined to correspond to the data areas by considering the transmission power values corresponding to the determined data areas(605). A signal is generated by mapping the map messages, the data tones, and the pilot tones(609). After the generated signal is inverse fast Fourier transformed, the signal is transmitted to the receiver through an antenna(611). The first transmission power value is a reference transmission power value. The second transmission power is the transmission power value determined by multiplying the reference transmission power value by the weight.
