A Monascus mutant which has monacolin-K with high efficiency and does not have citrinin productivity is provided to have excellent safety and utilize various foods and medicinal raw material. A Monascus pilosus mutant strain, 305-9(KFCC 11410P) or FNR1-5Alba(KFCC 11411P), produces a monacholin-K with high efficiency and does not produce citrinin. A method for producing the Monascus pilosus mutant comprises: a step of treating ultraviolet, NTG(N-methyl-N'-nitro-N-nitrosogu anidine), EMS(ethylmethanesulfonate), radiation or fast neutron to the Monascus pilosus to make mutant; a step of making colony having 85-95% of death rate; a step of selecting mutant having excellent activity through agar plug and high throughput screening (HTS); and a step of culturing at 28‹C-35‹C for 4-7 days and culturing again at 25‹C-30‹C.
