An apparatus of transmitting packet data at a high speed in HFC and a method thereof are provided to improve the packet data transmission speed and distance in a wired mixed network by dividing one data stream into plural data streams and transmitting channels having different frequencies. A high frequency unit(1300) modulates a stream data signal into a high frequency signal having 2.4 GHz band and demodulates the high frequency signal into a stream data signal. A frequency converting unit(1400) divides the high frequency signal of 2.4 GHz band applied from the high frequency unit into the high frequency signals having over 900 MHz. In addition, the high frequency unit converts the high frequency signal of over 900 MHz band into high frequency signals of 2.4 GHz into stream data signals of low band and transmits the stream data signal of 2.4 GHz. A PLL(Phase Locked Loop) outputs the central frequency signal by connecting to the frequency converting.
