A system and a method for leveling ink coated in a printer are provided to prevent an ink layer from being divided when gel ink is leveled with a contact member and prevent damage to the print quality of an image due to delivering a part of the gel ink to the contact member. A system(100) with a fluid flow directivity device comprises an ink applicator and a fluid flow directivity device(108). The ink applicator coats gel ink on the image receiving member(102) to form an image(106). The fluid flow directivity device makes the fluid flow faced toward the ink image on the image receiving member to redistribute the ink on the image receiving member. The fluid flow directivity device comprises a steam knife(116).
