A metal plating bath has added thereto a wetting agent consisting of a phosphorus acid derivative containing an acylic or cyclic hydrocarbon residue of at least 6 C atoms free of halogen, CN, or SCN groups, or a watersoluble salt thereof. Phosphonic acids are preferred, e.g. n-octyl phosphonic acid-1, methyl cyclohexyl phosphonic acid, or mixtures of similar acids. Salts referred to are alkali metal, ammonium, or alkylamine or alkylamine salts. Such additions prevent the formation of mists in plating baths containing Cu, Ni, Cd, Zn, Au, Ag, Cr, Sn or Cu alloys. |
