The procedure, designed to provide a record of the use of medical - surgical or dental - instruments, uses an electronic memory unit in the form of a tag (14) that is integrated in the instrument or its handle (11) and records both constant and variable data about its use. The tag is in the form of a Radio Frequency Identification (RFID) element, and has an antenna for transmitting data to a motor that drives the instrument and to computer software.
