AN PROCESS FOR PREPARING L-alpha;-GLYCERYL PHOSPHORYL CHOLINE

A method for manufacturing a glyceryl phosphoryl choline is provided to economically and efficiently produce the glyceryl phosphoryl choline using alcohol basic solution in hydrolysis. A method for producing L-alpha-glyceryl phosphoryl choline of the chemical formula 1 comprises: a step of extracting crude soy lecithin or deoleated soy lecithin with 1-10wt.pt. of alcohol to obtain an extract containing a phosphatidyl choline; a step of performing hydrolysis of phosphatidyl choline with 1-4 equivalent of alcohol base solution, filtering and washing to obtain crude L-alpha-glyceryl phosphoryl choline; and a step of treating the crude L-alpha-glyceryl phosphoryl choline with alcohol solvent of C1-C4 and purifying with weak acid cation exchange resin.
