PERPENDICULAR MAGNETIC RECORDING MEDIUM

A perpendicular magnetic recording medium is provided to improve noise removal effect by restricting the formation of magnetic wall while keeping the magnetic permeability relatively high. A perpendicular magnetic recording medium comprises a substrate(110), a plurality of soft-magnetic layers(130), an isolation layer(133), a bottom layer(150), and a recording layer(160). The soft-magnetic layers include a lower soft-magnetic layer(131) and an upper soft-magnetic layer(135) which are successively formed on the substrate, where the anisotropic field of the upper soft-magnetic layer is greater than that of the lower soft-magnetic layer. The isolation layer prevents magnetic interaction between the upper and lower soft-magnetic layers. The bottom layer is formed on the soft-magnetic layers. The recording layer includes a plurality of ferromagnetic layers which are formed so that the magnetic anisotropy energy gradually decreases toward the upper ferromagnetic layer.
