A seat (10) has upper and lower portions (12, 14) that have a complementary mating profile. The portions can move relative to each other in a tilting and/or swivelling manner. The seat may thus recline about a horizontal axis and/or rotate about a vertical axis. The seat has a detent means (31) between the portions. The seat may be used as a child seat in a vehicle. The two portions may be shell like members having a part spherical form. The two portions may be located on a base portion (11). The base portion may be located on and affixed to a vehicle seat via a fitting such as an Isofix bracket see Figure 1D. The upper portion may be removable from the lower portion and may have a telescopic carrying handle (51 Fig 5A). The seat may also convert into a stroller or baby buggy see Figures 5B-5D having wheels that fold outwards Figures 6A-6D. In alternative embodiments an adjustable support cradle and a gimbal mounting both having tilt and swivel abilities may be provided. |
