An electronic device, a message response method and a program thereof are provided to properly respond to a message from an external device even though the same address as another electronic device connected to an external device of an access counterpart is allocated. A CPU of a camcorder receives a CEC message through a CEC(Consumer Electronics Control) line(ST91). When the CEC message is in front of unicast, the CPU determines whether a state of HPD(Hot-Plug Detect) is high or low(ST93). When the CEC message is in front of broadcast or the HPD state is high, the CPU responds to a corresponding message by a message transfer device(ST94).
