An apparatus and a method for connecting antenna in a mobile phone are provided to perform supplemental service function of the portable terminal in case of connecting a communication terminal to an antenna when turning on and off a mobile phone. An interface unit(370) is connected to an external device. A first switch unit(380) performs a switching operation to connect the interface unit depending on an output voltage of the external device. A second switch unit(400) performs a switching operation to connect the interface unit after being supplied a power source of battery. A smart card module unit(410) performs an operation about the user identification to offer additional services. A control unit(420) determines the connection between the external device and the antenna with the switching operation of the second switch unit.
