METHOD AND SYSTEM OF STEP LENGTH ESTIMATION IN THE PEDESTRIAN NAVIGATION SYSTEM

A method and a system of step length estimation in the pedestrian navigation system are provided to estimate pedestrian's step length on a real time basis by estimating pedestrian's travelling distance on a real time basis through using a GPS receiver. A method of step length estimation in the pedestrian navigation system comprises following steps. A pedestrian's step frequency and acceleration dispersion are produced by using acceleration data obtained from an acceleration sensor(S200). The pedestrian's travelling distance is produced by using GPS data obtained from a GPS receiver(S210). The pedestrian's step length is estimated by using the calculated step frequency, and the acceleration dispersion and travelling distance.
