A blocking piece is disclosed for use in a roadway guardrail having a block member having a front face against which in use a guardrail bears, and at least one load distributing means which is disposed at the front face of the block member and adapted to engage an edge of the guardrail, and the block member having at least one fastener receiving aperture extending through the blocking piece, the aperture being elongate to provide for vertical adjustment when engaged by a fastener and before the fastener secures the guardrail to a post.
