A communication system using a directional antenna and a method thereof are provided to perceive a communication state of another communication system by using a network allocation vector included in a control signal, thereby improving performance of communication environment. A control signal receiving unit(510) receives a control signal from a neighboring communication system. A network allocation vector manager(520) manages a network allocation vector based on the received control signal. The network allocation vector manager confirms a destination address of the received control signal. If the destination address is different from a preset address, the network allocation vector manager associates the network allocation vector with the destination address, and maintains the associated network allocation vector and destination address.
