A method and an apparatus for controlling popup noise of an audio system are provided to remove easily popup noise in an ending state by performing a forcedly ending operation in a regenerating state of a codec. A control unit(240) transmits a block control signal to a control signal block(320) when a sound source signal is inputted into a codec(230). The codec decodes and amplifies the sound source signal and outputs the amplified signal to an input block(310). The input block transmits the output signal of the codec to an output block(330). The control signal block transmits a driving signal to an external amplifier(210). The control signal block transmits a feedback signal to the control unit. The output block transmits an input signal to the external amplifier.
