The lock (1) has a bonnet retaining clip (10) comprising a hook (20) to retain or release a strike plate of a bonnet, a manipulating plate (30) associated to the hook to manipulate the hook, and a spring (40). A heat protection cap is formed of a cover plate and interposed between a heat engine of a vehicle and the clip. The clip is fixed on a section (P) by a hinge. The cap covers the clip without touching the clip, and is assembled on a support (50) integrated to the section. The cap includes a flat cover wall bordered on both sides by wings to form an insulating shell around the clip.
