PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an optical system that has the broadened depth of field and is easy to handle. SOLUTION: The optical system for imaging light has a vertical aberration excessively corrected in order that optical transmission functions relative to light from physical points are almost the same regardless of the distances of the physical points. The MTFs of the optical system may be substantially the same over the place of an image face in the direction of the optical axis in the predetermined range. In addition, the MTFs of the optical system may be almost the same regardless of the image heights. Further, the degrees to which light spreads from physical points by means of the optical system are almost the same over the place of the image face in the direction of the optical axis in the predetermined range.
