PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a pilot type steam trap, in which steam will not leak when a three-way valve is operated to make a primary side passage continuous with a pilot passage for dissolving air locking. SOLUTION: The pilot type steam trap, an inlet 4, a valve chamber 3, and an outlet 5 are formed of a trap casing formed by fastening a lid member 2 to a main body 1. A float 8 (main valve element) to open/close a main valve port 6 for making the valve chamber 3 continuous with the outlet 5 is controlled to be opened/closed by a piston 10 (pressure-operating valve) that is displaced as a pilot float valve 19 (auxiliary pilot valve) is opened/closed. A primary side passage 22 connected from a condensation sump at a lower part of the valve chamber 3 is merged with a pilot passage 21 connecting the pilot float valve 19 (auxiliary pilot valve) to the piston 10 (pressure-operating valve), and the three-way valve 23 is disposed on their merging part.
