The system has protective plates (1) e.g. plastic plates, for holding function plates (2), and journals (21) formed at the respective function plates. Stop edges (22) on both sides of the respective journals are aligned perpendicular to the journals. A wedge opening (23) is attached to outer ends of the journals. A wedge with two wedge surfaces (31) is provided in the wedge opening so that one of the wedge surfaces lies on outer surfaces of the protective plates. A clamping screw (4) is screwed into an outermost end of each journal and is pressed on the outwardly pointing wedge surface. The function plates are utilized as a seat surface, stepping surface, tray, desk top, table top, playing surface, lighting fixture, lying area, sports device and/or reinforcement element. An independent claim is also included for a method for producing a T-shaped protective plate.
