<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an exhaust gas purification catalyst by which the poisoning with HC such as caulking can be suppressed, an increase in a pressure loss can be suppressed and cleaning activity of HC in a low temperature range is improved. <P>SOLUTION: A porous body capable of adsorbing the HC is not incorporated in an upstream-side catalyst-carrying layer 2 formed in the predetermined area of an upstream part but is incorporated in a downstream-side catalyst-carrying layer 3 formed in the predetermined area of a downstream part. Since the HC contained in the exhaust gas of the low temperature range passes through the upstream-side catalyst-carrying layer 2 without stopping there and is adsorbed on the porous body of the downstream-side catalyst-carrying layer 3, the poisoning with HC of the catalyst such as caulking can be suppressed on the upstream side. Even when the HC is adsorbed in the upstream-side catalyst-carrying layer 2, the HC is easily desorbed since the porous body is not incorporated therein and the desorbed HC is adsorbed on the porous body present in the downstream-side catalyst-carrying layer 3. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2009,JPO&INPIT |
