<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a polarizing plate that reinforces the liquid crystal panel while coping with reduction in thickness of a liquid crystal panel as an application of the polarizing plate and, further, prevents the liquid crystal panel using the polarizing plate from being in contact with a backlight system, and to provide a liquid crystal display device using the same. <P>SOLUTION: The polarizing plate includes: a cellulose type resin film stacked on one side of the polarizing film made of polyvinyl alcohol type resin via an adhesive layer; and a polyethylene terephthalate film being stretched, having a thickness of 20 to 50 μm and having a haze of 3 to 40%, which is stacked on the other side of the polarizing film.
