PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an optical encoder and an optical scale disk, capable of detecting an absolute angle within one rotation without being affected by fluctuation of detection light quantity by foreign matter or the like. SOLUTION: The optical scale disk 101 provided on the optical encoder includes a signal track 102. The signal track has a polarizer 103a formed in each area 103 divided in the circumferential direction. Each polarizer has a polarizing azimuth successively differed in the rotating direction of the optical scale disk, and the polarizing azimuth rotates m/2 times (m is an integer of 0 or more) when the optical scale disk rotates once.
