PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an external use composition suppressing the growth of Candida fungi in skin or a mucous membrane, and having excellent safety without problems of toxicity and irritancy. SOLUTION: The external composition for suppressing the growth of the Candida fungi in the skin or the mucous membrane is characterized by comprising one or more kinds selected from among the group consisting of sorbic acid, a sorbic acid salt, benzoic acid, and a benzoic acid salt, and propylene glycol.
