PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To maintain performance irrespective of temperature conditions, enhance an allowable transmission torque, secure the rigid feeling of the connection between an inner shaft and an outer shaft, prevent noise from occurring between the inner shaft and the outer shaft, and reduce manufacturing cost in a telescopic shaft for a vehicle. SOLUTION: Resin bars 41, 42, 43 are straddled on each of three pairs of axial grooves 31, 32; 33, 34; 35, 36 which are formed in the inner shaft 10 and the outer shaft 11 of a steering shaft 3, respectively. When the relative phase of the inner shaft 10 to the outer shaft 11 is within a predetermined range, both shafts 10, 11 are elastically connected to each other through the resin bars 41, 42, 43 in the circumferential direction C. The resin bars 41, 42, 43 are set within the range of 2,000-3,500 MPa in elastic modulus at -40 to 85°C, and within the range of 5×10<SP>-5</SP>/°C to 10×10<SP>-5</SP>/°C in coefficient of linear expansion at -40 to 85°C.
