HEAT-ABSORBING COMPOSITION, HEAT-ABSORBING MOLDED OBJECT COMPRISING THE SAME, AND PROCESS FOR PRODUCING THE SAME

A heat-absorbing molded object is provided which is excellent in durability and water resistance and which, in case of a fire, has sufficient strength and can be effectively inhibited from increasing in the temperature of the base itself based on the function of heat absorption accompanying dehydration. Also provided is a heat-absorbing composition which comprises an organic resin ingredient and a metal hydrate and is characterized in that (1) the organic resin ingredient comprises a nonaqueous thermosetting resin, (2) the metal hydrate has a water content of 6 wt.% or higher and a dehydration or decomposition temperature of 50-200°C, and (3) the proportion by weight of the organic resin ingredient to the metal hydrate is from 5/95 to 90/10. The heat-absorbing molded object is obtained by molding the heat-absorbing composition so as to result in a density of 0.8-4 g/cm3.
