<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a fuel cell system with a fuel cell stack in which wasteful discharge of a fuel gas to the outside of the fuel cell system is suppressed when impure gas filled in the anode of each unit cell constituting the fuel cell stack is replaced by the fuel gas. <P>SOLUTION: The passage cross-section of a main passage of a hydrogen supply manifold 40him provided on a fuel cell stack 100 is made variable.
