PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To improve light emitting luminance and durability (life) in an organic electroluminescent element. SOLUTION: In the organic electroluminescent element, functional layers containing a luminous layer are sandwiched between a pair of electrodes and at least one of the functional layers contains at least one type of compound expressed by general formula (1).
