PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide the mold clamping device of a vertical injection molding machine enhanced in durability by suppressing the bending occurring in the pivot and constituted so as to facilitate the processing of a toggle link. SOLUTION: The toggle mechanism 10 of the mold clamping device 1 includes the first toggle link 12 attached to a fixed platen 3 at its upper end part through the first pivot 11 in a freely rotatable manner, a pair of the second toggle links 15 and 15 attached to an end plate 6 by their intermediate connection parts 15B through the second pivot 13 in a freely rotatable manner and connected to a toggle piece 17 by their lower connection parts 15C and the toggle pin 14 for connecting the first toggle link 12 and a pair of the second toggle links 15 and 15 so as to freely bend them in up and down directions. The first toggle link 12 and a pair of the second toggle links 15 and 15 are bent by the up and down movement of a crosshead to perform the mold clamping movement of a movable platen.
