摘要 <P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a cation-exchange resin having a high salt decomposition capacity and a manufacturing method under mild conditions, and a manufacturing method of bisphenols at a high conversion rate using the same as a manufacturing catalyst of bisphenols. <P>SOLUTION: The cation-exchange resin has a constituent unit which has R<SP>2</SP>and R<SP>3</SP>at one of straight-chain carbon atoms of a styrene group and R<SP>1</SP>at the carbon atom having the aromatic ring, and has a sulfone group having Z and a sulfone group having A, Z on the aromatic ring, wherein the average number of bonding mols of a sulfonate group per aromatic ring exceeds 1 mol. The manufacturing method thereof and the manufacturing method of bisphenols using the cation-exchange resin as a catalyst are provided. R<SP>1</SP>, R<SP>2</SP>, and R<SP>3</SP>each independently represent a hydrogen atom, an alkyl group which may have a substituent group, an aryl group which may have a substituent group, or a halogen atom, and A represents an alkylene group which may have a substituent group and may include a hetero atom.
