#CMT# #/CMT# The device (1) has a tool gripping device (2) i.e. gripper arm, to implement a rotating motion around a longitudinal axis (3) during a tool change in and against a direction of rotation (8). A drive unit i.e. engine, produces a rotating motion of a drive shaft (9) in another direction of rotation (10). A transmission arrangement transforms the rotating motion of the drive shaft into the rotating motion of the tool gripping device. The transmission arrangement has two Maltese-cross transmissions (11, 12) that are coupled with one another by tooth transmissions (18, 19). #CMT#USE : #/CMT# Tool changing device for changing a machine tool (claimed). #CMT#ADVANTAGE : #/CMT# The tooth transmission has two gear wheels that are supported concentrically to axles of associated split washers via a concentric bearing, so that a simple coupling of the split washers is enabled by the tooth transmission. The tooth transmission is coupled with the split washers, such that the number of slots of the split washers is adjusted to have an identical number of slots, thus achieving an even movement of the tool gripping device. The longitudinal axis of the tool gripping device runs perpendicular or parallel to the drive shaft, so that the linear movement of the drive shaft can be adjusted in a simple manner. The drive unit is arranged concentrically to the drive shaft and is aligned parallel to the longitudinal axis of the tool gripping device, so that the coupling of the longitudinal axis with a cam is simplified. The Maltese-cross transmission is directly coupled with the longitudinal axis of the tool gripping device, so that the rotating motion of the tool gripping device in and against the direction of rotation can be managed in a simple manner.
