<p>A base composed of a martensitic structure is produced by quenching a steel base material, and a surface coating layer composed of an amorphous Ni-P alloy is formed on the surface of the base. Then the base is subjected to a heat treatment, so that the base is converted to a troostitic structure or a sorbitic structure and the surface coating layer is converted to an eutectic structure of Ni and Ni3P. Consequently, shape of a mold can be maintained with high precision by preventing occurrence of cracks in the surface coating layer at molding temperatures, while preventing plastic deformation of the mold.</p> |
