<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent theft of an article by making a release device unusable even if the release device for an article monitor attached to the article and used so as to prevent the theft is illegally acquired by the theft or the like, and to enhance security by an economical method. <P>SOLUTION: This function release device for the article monitor (tag) 2 releasing a monitoring function of the article monitor 2 attached to the article and used so as to prevent the theft of the article has at least a handy key 1.
