PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a shell of a chair which can be precisely flexed in accordance with actions of a sitter. SOLUTION: The back shell 71 includes: a back shell body 710 having flexibility and capable of supporting a sitter's body; and an open back shell upper portion 71T provided in the back shell body 710 and a numerical aperture per prescribed area is gradually varied by providing a plurality of openings 711. The back shell upper portion 71T sets flexibility high following the approach of the back shell 71 to the upper edge by making the upper end side of the back shell upper portion 71T a high numerical aperture area 71Ta and the lower end side a low numerical aperture area 71Tc, and interposing an intermediate aperture area 71Tb between the high numerical aperture area 71Ta and the lower numerical aperture area 71Tc.
