PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a Stirling engine capable of improving the heat exchange efficiency of a heat exchanger. SOLUTION: In this Stirling engine, a displacer piston 2 is provided in a housing 1, a regenerator 10 and a cooler 11 are disposed at an outer circumference of the displacer piston 2, an expansion space 1a of the displacer piston 2 is formed by the housing 1, the heat exchanger 9 is closely fixed on the housing 1, a plurality of gas passages 9a are formed in the heat exchanger 9, one-side ends of the gas passages 9a communicate with the expansion space 1a via communication passages 1b in the housing 1, and the other ends of the gas passages 9a communicate with the regenerator 10 via communication passages 1b in the housing 1.
