<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an airbag device for side impact capable of enhancing the constraint performance by holding an airbag at a deployed and inflated position while constraining an occupant in a wide area. <P>SOLUTION: The airbag device for side impact feeds gas G for inflation from an inflator 26 to an airbag 27 fixed to a base end 27B during the side impact of a vehicle in which a plurality of rear seats 15 are juxtaposed in the vehicle width direction, and deploys and inflates the airbag 27 between the adjacent rear seats 15 in a bag shape to restrain an occupant. A retraction device 29 is provided forward of a fore end 27T in the deploying direction of the airbag 27, a front end 28F of a strap 28 formed of a non-extensible woven textile is connected to the retraction device 29, and a rear end 28R is connected to the fore end 27T. When the airbag 27 is deployed and inflated, the strap 28 is retracted by the retraction device 29 and tightened to give the tension to the airbag 27 and to regulate the displacement in the vehicle width direction, and the airbag 27 is held at the deployed and inflated position. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2009,JPO&INPIT |
