IMAGE READER, IMAGE FORMING DEVICE, CONTROL METHOD FOR IMAGE READER, AND CONTROL PROGRAM FOR IMAGE READER

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image reader that allows a user to set proper image quality on the surface and on the rear face respectively.

SOLUTION: A screen for individually setting image quality of the surface and that of the rear face of an original manuscript is displayed on a liquid-crystal touch panel. A user selects either one of a key of the "surface" and a key of the "rear face" so as to set an image mode (a character original-manuscript, a character/image original-manuscript, an image original-manuscript, or a thin-character original-manuscript) and an image density (an image reading density and a printing density during copying) of the selected face. When storing read images in a memory or when outputting (printing or the like) read images, conversion of image data is executed according to the set image quality.
