PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a power supply system which can control power supply from a communication cable to a device depending on the situation of a packet transmitted on the communication cable, and to obtain a power supply method and a power supply control program. SOLUTION: A power supply system 103 is arranged to supply power to a power receiving apparatus 101 connected with an LAN cable 102 by using a power supply LSI 116. Upon detecting a fact that a predetermined packet has not been transferred on the LAN cable 102 for a predetermined time, a physical layer LSI 114 makes a controller 118 stop power supply by the power supply LSI 116.
