PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for producing propylene oxide by oxidizing an organic material to afford an organic hydroperoxide, and reacting the organic hydroperoxide with propylene by using an epoxidation catalyst, by which the promotion of decomposing side reaction of the organic hydroperoxide by an acid, the corrosion of a material of an apparatus, and the deterioration of the epoxidation catalyst can be prevented, CO<SB>2</SB>byproduced in a parallelly installed hydrogen-generating apparatus can be effectively utilized, and the discharge of a CO<SB>2</SB>-containing gas of an environmental contamination gas to the atmosphere can be suppressed. SOLUTION: The method for producing the propylene oxide uses an aqueous solution of sodium carbonate obtained by bringing an aqueous solution of sodium hydroxide into contact with the CO<SB>2</SB>-containing gas obtained by a steam reforming reaction, as at least a part of an alkali aqueous solution used in an organic acid-neutralizing step.
