The method involves illuminating a side region lying in a bending direction directly adjacent to a motor vehicle while bending the motor vehicle. The side region of the motor vehicle is illuminated by an illuminating system, and regions of road sides are activated independent of a set of blinkers and/or reduction of a motor vehicle speed and/or steady speed by reverse parking space and/or necessary steering wheel angle associated to the set of the blinkers when the steering wheel angle corresponds and/or approximates to an angle of bending activity. An independent claim is also included for a device for executing a method for illuminating a motor vehicle.
