A reflecting member (50), which is a member subjected to a specular reflection process, is arranged on a light irradiation side of a light source module (31). The reflecting member (50) is provided with a horizontal reflecting unit (51) arranged along a back portion of a backlight frame and a tilt reflecting unit (52) with a predetermined angle with respect to the reflecting unit (51). Thus the horizontal reflecting unit (51) is arranged in an area that is close to the light source and large in light intensity while the tilt reflecting unit (52) is arranged in an area that is far from the light source and small in light intensity, so that a uniform light amount can be set and the occurrence of uneven brightness is suppressed. Further, it becomes unnecessary to provide a light guide plate, for example, so that the device can be made thin in thickness and light in weight. With this structure, a light emitting device and a display device with high brightness that contribute to reduction in thickness and weight can be provided. Further, a light emitting device using a solid state light emitting device such as an LED makes uneven brightness suppressed and makes brightness uniform.
