<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image data updating apparatus that can highlight components while maintaining the appearance of an antialiased image and suppressing a processing load increase. <P>SOLUTION: When a black-outlined congestion line displayed on a map image is highlighted by periodic recoloring, only the color of a central portion of the congestion line is changed (S510, S520).
