<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent a job from being executed by a user other than an authenticated user. <P>SOLUTION: A reader reads an image of a set document, and a job is started. At the same time, a second reader reads an image of a set business card. While the document is being read, a main controller acquires user information from the image of the business card and performs authentication processing. When a user can be authenticated, the main controller associates the user, with the job being executed, and the job is continued. The authentication of the user becomes valid only for the job being executed.
