<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a liquid crystal display device comprising a light-weight and low-cost backlight that secures uniform irradiation of light. <P>SOLUTION: The liquid crystal display device includes: a liquid crystal display panel; and a backlight disposed on the back of the liquid crystal display panel to face the liquid crystal display panel. The backlight include: a box-shaped casing with its inner face opposite to the liquid crystal display panel subjected to a light reflection treatment; a light source which is arranged in the casing on the outside of a region facing a liquid display region of the liquid crystal display panel with a gap and disposed in the thickness direction of the backlight spaced from the liquid crystal display panel. The light source is provided with a linear light source and a light reflection plate covering the linear light source, and the light reflection plate has an opening directed to a plane perpendicular to the liquid crystal display panel. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2009,JPO&INPIT |
