PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To control the on/off of a depletion type transistor arranged as the shutdown transistor of an output transistor between the gate of an output transistor with a source follower configuration and an output terminal to which a load is connected by using the depletion type transistor having a comparatively low withstand voltage (that is, a small element area). SOLUTION: This semiconductor output circuit is provided with an output transistor 102 with a source follower configuration connected between a power supply line 101 and an output terminal 103; a load 104 connected between the output terminal 103 and a power supply line 105; a depletion type transistor 108 coupled between the gate of the output transistor 102 and the output terminal 103; and a control circuit for controlling the on/off of the depletion type transistor 108 by applying, between the gate and the source thereof, a voltage smaller than a voltage between the power supply line 101 and the power supply line 105.
